A bit of light relief for y'all
Our council is getting multicultural (despite the vast majority of people here are rich white folk) and having a competition to build a refugee encampment in a central park in September. There will be teams of four building these shelters from scrounged materials, as my pals out in Pembury have access to hazel trees a big bender or two with be the thing to build. The materials have to be scrounged and not bought in any shops.
It is with ironic glee that I have entered this, It will be good to see what the posh folk will build, probably something from corrugated iron and they will sweat and swear when erecting their idea of a shelter and we will be weaving some branches together.
We will build a rocket stove and make soup for folk who are weary and I am sure a gas bottle woodburner could make an appearance. A big bender, nearly all made from natural components, that should win the competition.
Anyone got any thoughts on this?
