You Can't Bring Yer Dogs In Here and other songs from the firepit

Anybody remember this firepit classic (circa 1998), or any others for that matter?

You can call me a traveller 'cos travellings what I do
There are many reasons for this song and one I'll tell to you
Now I quite like me bevvy and I'm quite fond of me grub
But I'm searching in desperation cos I just can't find a pub
Where they don't say....

You can't bring yer dogs in here mate
No you can't bring yer dogs in here
Your hairs too long and you're dressed all wrong
And you can't bring yer dogs in here

Now from Lands' End to John O'Groats the story's just the same
If they don't like the looks of you your dogs'll get the blame
And if you're not wearing chinos and they think that you might SHOUT
Before your head's got through the door they've already kicked you out
With....

You can't bring yer dogs in here mate
No you can't brig yer dogs in here
You've got rings in yer nose and holes in yer clothes
And you an't bring yer dogs in here

Now I am not a racist and I'm not anti-queer
I don't want to shag your daughter, I just want a pint of beer
And I won't make you lose your license and I won't start a fight
If you take the time to talk to me you'll find that I'm alright
Still....

You can't bring yer dogs in here mate
No you can't bring yer dogs in here
You look a bit drunk and we don't serve punks
And you can't bring yer dogs in here!

I don't have a recording, though I suppose I could try and make one or get the notes down if you want? Voice not up to much right now, recovering from the lurgy.

I just realised the other day I've never seen the words written down, and not heard it sung for years (other than when I get pished and sing it) - same with a few other firepit songs from years back. Seems a shame if nobody remembers them and they get lost! Doggy On A String was another - not even sure I remember the words but will have a go at some point.

It reminds me of one time that quite a few of us got chucked out of a pub in Cornwall known for having a strong traveller watch at the time, coz we had dogs, dreads, piercings and holes in our clothes... we were only down there visiting and even got followed to make sure we didn't park anywhere we shouldn't... oh what a lovely tolerant society we live in!!

AnarchyAuntYou said in another thread you were at BNRR...the song Doggy on a string was a song that a character called Sicknote used to sing there it's actually an Attilla the Stockbroker song. that he used to get very annoyed about if anyone pointed this out because he used to try and make out they were his.

Ha see I didn't know that it was a real song and always assumed it just happened after too much brew and then somehow got remembered!

Yeah I knew Sicknote - PMing you about him.

Doggy on a string

(you need your sound turned right up cos the quality ain't great, and the song doesnt actually start til about a minute and a half into the vid)

Can't find the lyrics anywhere (tho I get the general gist from the video), so if anyone wants to post them here, that'd be cool. And echo everyone else, would love if someone could get a recording down of 'cant bring ya dogs in here', or the notes at least
